Hibiscus belongs to the mallow family and is native to tropical areas in Asia. “The immortal flower”, as the hibiscus is called in its homeland, symbolizes determination and perseverance.
Hibiscus grows as an annual or perennial plant and can grow up to 3 m high. The flowers of the hibiscus are fivefold and bloom in the colors white, orange, violet, red, pink or two-tone. The leaves are dark green, glossy and 5 to 10 cm long.
For the tea, the calyxes are dried and infused. This tastes finely sour -tart, somewhat sweet and is very thirst-quenching. Due to its valuable ingredients, it is said to have some health effects. The various fruit acids such as hibiscus acid, malic acid, tartaric acid and citric acid should be mentioned here. Because these are involved in the metabolic processes in cell metabolism.
